HOUSE-SIT

A HAUNTING · IN REAL TIME

HOUSE-SIT

The owners went to Canada. The photos say otherwise.

Your oldest mate Rory has landed the easiest job going: a month minding a cottage near Applecross while the owners are in Canada. He keeps sending you photos of the place. Every one of them has something wrong in it.

HOW IT PLAYS

When Rory goes quiet, you wait for real.

House-sit runs on your clock. When Rory is out walking, asleep or fixing the place up, he stops texting, sometimes for minutes, sometimes for hours. Your phone buzzes when he's back. Answer straight away, or pick it up when you're free.

If he says he'll be an hour, it's an hour.

QUESTIONS

Before you answer

Is it really real time?

Yes. If Rory says he'll be an hour, it's an hour, and you get a notification when he's back. After your first ending, Fast mode lets you replay without the waits.

What happens if I choose wrong?

Rory can die. When that happens, you can rewind to your last choice and try again, or start the whole story over.

How much does it cost?

£1.99 for the app, which includes Chapter One. Chapter Two is a £1.99 in-app purchase. There are no ads and nothing to buy to skip the waiting.

What kind of game is House-sit?

House-sit is interactive fiction told through text messages: a choose-your-own-adventure haunted house story where Rory texts you and you decide what they do next. If you enjoyed real-time text games like Lifeline, it works the same way: the story unfolds on your clock, with notifications when Rory gets back to you.

Does it need an internet connection?

No. The whole story is on your phone and plays offline. Your progress stays on your device.

Is there an iPhone version?

House-sit is on Android first. An iPhone version may follow.
