THE STORY
He's been working nights for fifty years.
Every choice you make follows you. Something you tell Dev early on can save him much later, or cost someone else everything. Choose badly and he dies. You can rewind to your last choice.

A GHOST STORY · IN REAL TIME
He's been working nights for fifty years.
A text from an unknown number. Dev is a new night porter at a half-closed Victorian hospital in Glasgow, and he found your number on a card in the lodge: if anything happens on Ward 9, ring this number. Something has happened on Ward 9.
HOW IT PLAYS
Night Shift runs on your clock. When Dev is on his rounds, asleep or keeping out of sight, he stops texting, sometimes for minutes, sometimes for hours. Your phone buzzes when he's back. Answer straight away, or pick it up when you're free.
If he says he'll be an hour, it's an hour.
bed 9's light is on again. it's buzzing

QUESTIONS
Yes. If Dev says he'll be an hour, it's an hour, and you get a notification when he's back. After your first ending, Fast mode lets you replay without the waits.
Dev can die. When that happens, you can rewind to your last choice and try again, or start the whole story over.

Night Shift is interactive fiction told through text messages: a choose-your-own-adventure ghost story where Dev texts you and you decide what they do next. If you enjoyed real-time text games like Lifeline, it works the same way: the story unfolds on your clock, with notifications when Dev gets back to you.
No. The whole story is on your phone and plays offline. Your progress stays on your device.
